The Carrier Net consists of a friendly group of Ham
Radio operators who meet on 3.935 MHz Monday through Saturday at 9:00
A.M. and daily at 8 P.M. on 3935 on CQ100. WA2HXX, Peter Merlow and W1KKD started the net in 1967 for
amateurs on Amplitude Modulation – with "carrier signals." Over the
years, the net operation moved to SSB. Carrier Net members are mostly from NY, VT, CT, MA, ME, NJ, PA, MD and Canada. There is a different Net Control Station each day and a daily net usually consists of approximately 25 to 35 participants. Before 9:00 A.M. a pre-net group assembles for general discussion and solves many of the "world's problems." All licensed amateurs are welcome. For a five-dollar fee, members get listed on the roster and are issued a numbered Net Certificate. Funds are used as needed by the Secretary/Treasurer for Get Well, Sympathy, etc. and as the members dictate and agree upon. At the present time we have 274 members on our perpetual certificate listing. Over the years some of our "Old Timers" have become "Silent Keys." |
